Taken from an outdoor deck in Woodcreek Village. The conservancy path is below.
Sandhill cranes live and nest in the Pheasant Branch Conservancy. Photo taken on bike ride, just 4 minutes from our front door.
The conservancy is a natural area on the Northwest corner of Lake Mendota. There is a long term plan being worked out to connect our conservancy path to Governor Nelson State Park nearby.
A newly dedicated path around the perimiter of the conservancy is a great way to relax, exercise and get away from it all. Right at our door step.
The conservancy hill in a morning fog
The conservancy hill from the south end. Canoe and Kayak in the main channel for a quiet getaway.
Sandhill cranes in flight. The Friends of Pheasant Branch and the International Crane Foundation are considering a plan for a crane viewing platform in the future.
Shown above is the viewing platform over the conservancy springs. These springs are spectacularly beautiful up close, generating over 2.6 million gallons of fresh water every day.
Just over the conservancy hill on the north end, beautiful Dane County opens up into farms and lovely open space.
Great Blue Heron. Taken at Orchid Park which is a 10 minute walk from our front door.
The Pheasant Branch Conservancy is a wonderful asset and neighbor for our Woodcreek Village community.
